Equal Rights, Equal Opportunity
Genuine equality between men and women, girls and boys
can only be realized in the process of a just, fair and human transformation of
our society as a whole. There is need to educate ourselves and others to take a
more correct view of women and to actively redress the injustices done to women
in all our institution. Women must not be treated as mere passive participants
in national development. But they must enjoy fundamental rights and freedoms benefiting all human beings, both in domestic and public life. Women need to
be treated justly in families, public life and the church. Re-emphasizes that
equal rights and opportunities lead to improve that health outcomes for women
and girls. Discrimination towards women and girls, or what is known is gender –based
discrimination, is one of the most pervasive human rights violations. It severely
limits the ability of women, girls and the communities they live in to protect
and promote their health.
